Elizabeth Widzinski is currently an Adjunct Professor of Clarinet at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She joined the faculty at Fredonia after completing a Master in Music Performance as Clarinet Graduate Assistant from Wichita State University in 2010. A native of Rochester, NY, she also received a Bachelor of Music Performance and Music Business, summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Potsdam.
Ms. Widzinski is currently an active freelance musician as well as an instrument repair technician currently working at Small Music Services in Buffalo, NY. She has performed in ensemble settings as a substitute clarinetist for the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Music for Peace Orchestra, and in numerous occasions for wind ensembles and orchestras at Wichita State University and SUNY Potsdam. She has cultivated successful chamber experiences that have inspired her continued exploration of the instrument. Most notably, past solo performances include work as a guest artist for the Single Reed Summit at the State University of New York at Potsdam and multiple performances at Wichita State University’s Contemporary Music Series.
In Ms. Widzinski’s time in Wichita, KS, she led first-place-winning chamber groups in the 2009 and 2010 annual Wolff-Bing Chamber Music Competition. She has also won first prize with her trio, Trio Frenetique, in the Friends Cello Day Competition. Among chamber music competitions, she has also advanced to the semi-finals at the Naftzger Young Artist Competition and the 9th Street Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artist Competition. Outside of competition awards, Ms. Widzinski also was honored with the Konrad Wolff & Isle Bing Chamber Music Fellowship from Wichita State University from 2008-2010 which helped to fund her ever growing desire to attain a higher level of education, teaching and performance.
Beyond teaching private clarinet lessons, Ms. Widzinski has given multiple master classes for clarinet as well as with the Graduate Woodwind Quintet at Wichita State University. The quintet traveled to numerous high schools between 2008 and 2010 playing recitals and infusing the young audiences with their bold passion for music. Ms. Widzinski has participated in a number of master classes including those given by Dr. Cynthia Dogget, Daniel Gilbert, Dr. Keith Lemmons, Eric Mandat, Alain DeGagne, Jon Manasse and Donald Montanaro. Her primary teachers have been Patricia DiLutis, Robert DiLutis, Dr. Raphael Sanders, and Dr. Suzanne Tirk.
